About Ponoka FCSS

Who, What, When, Where, Why & How

WHO: Ponoka FCSS is a non-profit community-based organization which receives its funding from a partnership between the Province of Alberta, Town of Ponoka and Ponoka County.

WHAT: Through supportive, preventative and locally driven programs Ponoka FCSS enhances the well-being of individuals, families and communities. Our staff is dedicated to fostering independence in all individuals.

FCSS provides services that: 1) assist communities to identify social needs and develop responses; 2) promote, encourage and support volunteer work; 3) inform the public of available services; 4) promote the social development of children and families; 5) enrich and strengthen family life by developing skills so people can function more effectively within their own environment; and 6) enchance the quality of life of the retired and semi-retired.

WHEN: We work every day providing services that are needed.  In most cases, starting the day early and working late in order to provide our clients the greatest opportunity to engage in their community activities.

WHERE: Personal care and home support services are provided at the client's residence within the Town of Ponoka and Ponoka County. Our programs such as tax preparation, law clinic, educational courses and family counselling are offered at our office.  We also plan, host and or attend events out and about in the community such as the Drop-in Centre, Blood Donor Clinic...

WHY: Our mission is to build a safe and caring community through quality programs and services.

HOW: We are able to provide the services and programming that we do through committed trained staff, a dedicated volunteer board and many other volunteers. Our programming and services are supported through government funding and other grants, local donations and the support of the community.
